This night of nights
Oh such a sight!
To see her face brings sheer delight
Lo God! Redeem my deserved blight
For then I might
See her face

Her tress so dark flows through in waves
So notice men, both valiant and knave
As dead souls dance behind begotten graves
I hide in shadow beyond reach of light
In this darkness
Tonight tonight!

I reach the threshold of her chamber inn
ensuring it be not that of her kin
I rap three times like the bird of lore
The dark winged evil who quoth "Nevermore"
I ask
"Be kind, be gentle, my darling please-
To have me with you would put your heart at ease

So go on my darling, my love, and my dear
Gaze upon the countenance of this devil's veneer"

I ask her, "My love, dost thou want mine sin?"
As I heard the latch open, she did let me in
I stared into her eyes
This unholy of nights
I stared into her eyes
I knew then she was mine

I took her away into perillous flight
I took her away tonight, this night.
